The State Department of Conservation and Natural Resources announced that infrastructure improvements will be coming soon to Yellow Creek State Park.
According to a news release, Yellow Creek has several needs that need to be addressed that center around a redesign of the park and upgrades to the day use area. Improvements will include new pavilions, repaving the roads and parking areas, a new boat concession building, ADA accessibility improvements, floodplain mitigation, and a rehab of the park’s sewage and waterline systems. The total of the needs is around $7.25 million. The projects will be paid for out of the state budget, which included $700 million for conservation, recreation and preservation throughout the state. That funding will also allow for the development of three new state parks that will be announced later this year.
DCNR Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn said that the projects will improve the visitor experience, and will also support public lands infrastructure and in turn, the health and wellness of all who use the parks.
There’s no timeline in place for the projects to get underway, but DCNR looks to move as soon as they are able to.
