The Steelers practiced in shorts and helmets on their next-to-last day at Saint Vincent College. They’ll practice in Latrobe one more time today and then will prepare to fly to Jacksonville for Saturday’s second game of the preseason.
Safety/linebacker Marcus Allen and special teamer/fullback Derek Watt ran individual drills in their first significant action as they slowly work their way back from injuries.
Presley Harvin III has been booming punts throughout camp, including one this week that went end zone-to-end zone on a roll. Harvin happened to have a card with him yesterday that detailed his punts from the day before. It showed an average of 62 yards and 5.18 seconds of hang time.
Harvin says he is enjoying his second training camp and punting well.
Defensive lineman Larry Ogunjobi has fit in well after signing as a free agent in the offseason. After playing for the Browns and Bengals in the AFC North, he was very familiar with the Steelers, but he says training camp has shown him why the Steelers win so much.
Kenny Pickett took second-team snaps again at quarterback yesterday, but coach Mike Tomlin said it was just part of the preparation for Saturday’s game.
