A second day of training camp for IUP and defense took center stage as the team mixed it up for some live action.
Jack Benedict was there.
IUP is the co-favorite along with Slippery Rock to win the PSAC West, according to the conference’s coaches, but the Crimson Hawks have some work to do to earn respect on the national stage. The American Football Coaches Association national preseason Top 25 poll released yesterday has IUP in the “others receiving votes” category, receiving 79 points, which places them 27th overall.
Defending national champion Ferris State is number one, followed by Northwest Missouri State, Valdosta State, Colorado Mines, and Grand Valley State in the top five. From the PSAC, Shepherd is ranked 6th, Kutztown is 13th, Cal is 21st, and Slippery Rock is 23rd. West Chester is also listed among the others receiving votes, as the last team at number 52.
Renda Broadcasting and Renda Digital TV announced yesterday that Hawk Talk will return to 92.5 FM U92 and the Renda Digital TV platform this season, and will return to the Hilton Garden Inn as well. The first program will be on Tuesday, September 6th before IUP kicks off the season September 10th at East Stroudsburg, and then the show will shift to Monday nights for the rest of the season. Fans will be able to attend and perhaps ask questions of Coach Paul Tortorella, host Jack Benedict, and others. You can hear Hawk Talk on U92 and watch the program live on the new Renda Digital TV YouTube channel.
