State police nabbed a suspected drug dealer last Saturday during a traffic stop in Burrell Township, at the western base of Penn View Mountain.
A trooper on patrol pulled over a car for multiple vehicle code violations. The driver, 28-year-old Dante Demtrius Scott of New Kensington, consented to a search of the vehicle and in the trunk the trooper found approximately 22 grams of cocaine and a stolen Smith & Wesson nine-millimeter handgun.
Scott was taken into custody and is facing charges of possession with intent to distribute, receiving stolen property, prohibited possession of a firearm, and firearms not to be carried without a license, plus numerous summary traffic offenses. He’s in the Indiana County Jail with bond set at $75,000 and a preliminary hearing scheduled before District Judge Susanne Steffee on June 26th.
