With the bulk of the student body away for the summer, IUP has jumped right into the summer construction season with the publication of a map detailing work which will impact foot and vehicle traffic over the next several months.
Three projects get underway today:
- The annual parking garage maintenance program is scheduled for today through May 24th. The parking garage will be closed during that time.
- Also starting today is the lighting project at George P. Miller Stadium. That means no access to the stadium through the end of the month.
- And a steam line restoration project gets underway today at the intersection of Maple Street and 11th Maple Street will be closed and traffic detoured from today through June 7th.
Other projects on the construction map for the summer include:
- A Grant Street repaving project that will get underway a week from today and will cause traffic interruptions through June 10th.
- A Pennsylvania American Water Company water main replacement project in the area of the HUB parking lot near Maple Street, scheduled to begin the week of May 27th.
- A meter pit replacement project scheduled for May 28th to June 14th on Pratt Drive.
- Continuing work on Grant Street between Clark and Putt halls, which will involve removing the street and replace it with a pedestrian plaza featuring new concrete walks and brick paving. That gets underway on July 1st.
- The conversion of the basement at Stabley Library to new University College offices, including a new front entrance vestibule and plaza.
- Finally, two steam tunnel replacement projects will begin on July 1st on Pratt Drive.
