Gas price averages continue to go down across the area.
The national average this morning, according to Triple-A is now $4.05 a gallon, which is a drop of a penny over the last 24 hours, but down 16 cents from last week and a 67-cent drop from last month at this time. Last year, the national average was $3.18. Experts say that gas prices are continuing to drop because of a continuing decline in demand and a continuing drop in the price of crude oil. For the first time in a long time, the price of crude oil is below $90 a barrel, at $88.53.
Pennsylvania’s average is $4.38 a gallon, which is a penny lower than yesterday, 18 cents lower than last week and 44 cents lower than last month. Pennsylvania’s average last year was $3.28.
Indiana County’s average this morning is $4.41, which is actually the highest average among the counties in our region. Jefferson and Cambria are tied for the lowest averages at $4.35 each. Then Westmoreland County at $4.36. Clearfield is next highest at $4.38, then Armstrong at $4.40.
Forest County has the highest county-wide average in the state at $4.54, while Perry County has the lowest at $4.17.
According to Gasbuddy.com, gas prices in Indiana range from $4.32 to $4.45. The price in Homer City, and Clymer is $4.39, while Blairsville’s prices range from $4.39 to $4.45.
