Today will be the groundbreaking for a new playground at Homer-Center Elementary School.
The playground project has been a long time coming for the district. The new playground will be ADA Compliant, feature brand new equipment and a ground material to replace the mulch that is currently there.
The playground project has been funded through some private fundraising, and in April, the project received further funding as the project was awarded an $85,000 matching grant from the State Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
The playground is slated for completion in August, just in time for the start of the 2017-2018 school year.
