The PSAC released its annual preseason football rankings and IUP is heavily favored among coaches in the West, as the Crimson Hawks were tied with Slippery Rock for first in the poll.

Last season, IUP earned three first place votes, earning them a second place ranking in the preseason poll. Slippery Rock was the overall favorite last year, garnering four first place votes.
Head coach Paul Tortorella said the West has always been tough, but his team needs to take things week-to-week.
Tortorella also said the depth on IUP’s roster is young, but also tough.
The Crimson Hawks start the 2022-23 season on the road on September 10, as they face East Stroudsburg at 6 p.m. The first home game of the season is Sept. 24 as IUP faces Mercyhurst in the Hall of Fame Game at 4 p.m.
