Just a day after it was announced that Turnpike tolls are set to increase in January, members of the PA Turnpike Commission say that turnpike travel is on the rise following the COVID-19 pandemic.
Turnpike Commission spokesperson Carl DeFebo says 214 million vehicles traveled the turnpike on an annual basis prior to the pandemic, but he says that number reduced to 200 million over the last fiscal year.
DeFebo says that improvements are being made to the turnpike to drive numbers up.
No date has been set yet for when these proposed changes should be finished.
