Chancellor Dan Greenstein returns to IUP today for a second round of discussions on the State System of Higher Education Redesign.
Greenstein announced last week that he would visit all fourteen state-owned universities, following up a fall tour that served as his introduction to the schools and their communities. He will spend his morning at California, and be here in Indiana at the HUB Susquehanna Room from 4 to 5:30 PM.
State System Spokesman Kenn Marshall says the chancellor wants to hear more about the Redesign from the people who will be most affected by it.
Greenstein said last week that he wants to expand the conversation about his vision of a “sharing system”, which would give students access to educational programs at other schools than the one they are attending. He also advocates renewed efforts to retain and graduate students, expand programs to meet workforce demand and provide pathways for adult and returning students, and preserve the State System’s distinction as a high-quality, affordable higher education option.
The chancellor has a competitive streak. Yesterday, he tweeted about dual enrollment programs, pointing out that many seem willing to allow regional competitors to take over their market than break into it themselves.
Everyone is invited to today’s appearance by Chancellor Greenstein. It comes a day before IUP President Michael Driscoll launches his new “listening tour” of the university community during a “50 Minutes with President Driscoll” event at John Sutton Hall.
