Four teams took home wins following the first day of the 2022 PA Youth American Legion Championship Tournament at First Commonwealth Bank Field in Homer City.
In the nightcap, Spring City pitchers Jake Hommer and Cole McVeary tossed a combined no-hitter as the Red Sox took down the hosting Homer City Bears, 16-1, in three innings.

Hommer earned the win after pitching the opening two-and-two-thirds innings. He allowed one earned run while striking out a hitter. McVeary got the final out in the top of the third.
Brennan McVey and Ethan Freed each went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs for Spring City, with McVey tallying three legs of the cycle. Chase Calvarese went 2-for-2 with three RBIs.
For Homer City, Brayden Rado walked and scored a run.

Action resumes tomorrow at 10 a.m. as Connellsville takes on Northampton. Homer City will take on Upper Perkiomen at 7:45 p.m. on WCCS 101.1 FM and AM 1160, and also on Renda Digital TV.
