Friday’s session of Steelers training camp ended a little heated, with a fight breaking out on the field. Defensive lineman Carlos Davis and guard Kendrick Green were both involved in the skirmish. On the final play of the practice session, Tackle Jake Dixon was working with the third team and took a lineman to the ground. That prompted Davis to sprint from the sidelines and take down the rookie from Bethel Park and Duquesne University. A team-wide scrum ensued. This marks the second scuffle in as many days for the team. Mike Tomlin said he was going to make it a teaching opportunity for the players. While the players practiced with pads on yesterday, tackle practices are expected to start next week.
On the injury front, Pat Freiermuth was out for the day. On Thursday, he had suffered a lower body injury and left practice early. Cornerback Levi Wallace sat out of practice yesterday due to illness. Wide Receiver Chase Claypool suffered a shoulder injury yesterday, and coach Mike Tomlin said his injury needs further examination.
