The Pirates’ Richard Rodriguez gave up back-to-back home runs in the 8th inning as he blew a 2-1 lead and the Bucs lost to Washington, 3-2. Chris Archer struck out nine and allowed only one run over seven innings for the Pirates, who will send Jameson Taillon to the mound today against the Nationals’ Max Scherzer.

Pirates right fielder Gregory Polanco has been promoted to Triple-A Indianapolis to continue his rehabilitation from shoulder surgery. Polanco was 2-for-13 in four rehab games with Single-A Bradenton. He played in the field twice and was the designated hitter in the other two games. Last night, he was 2-for-5 with two singles and two RBI in a 9-7 Indy win over Charlotte. Catcher Elias Diaz was also promoted after missing most of spring training with an illness. He was also 2-for-5 last night. yet another callup on a rehab assignment, reliever Dovydas Neverauskas, pitched a scoreless inning for the Indians, striking out two.
