A Strongstown man is due for a preliminary hearing today on charges that he robbed the Strongstown General Store in Pine Township last October.
27-year-old Cruze Earl Lee Davis was charged on February 1st. He’s accused of walking into the store on October 10th at 8:29 PM wearing a mask and demanding cash from the clerk. He was given $668, put the money in a bag and ran out of the store.
Police say the video surveillance footage showed a masked man matching Davis’ physique and mannerisms, and subsequent interviews with witnesses and his acquaintances led them to believe he walked to the store, committed the robbery, then walked to the nearby Country Meadow Lane home of a friend, seeking a ride to Shelocta to buy heroin, cocaine, and marijuana.
Since his arrest, Davis has been held at the Indiana County Jail with bond set at $25,000. The hearing today is scheduled for 1:15 PM before District Judge George Thachik. Since 2010, he’s had eight cases make their way through Indiana County Court, most for theft, and one for robbery, which was reduced to theft.
