It took one extra inning, but the Pittsburgh Pirates doubled-up the Washington Nationals 6-3 on Friday night.
The Pirates started the scoring as Josh Bell hit a solo home run to left field in the second. The Nationals would respond with a single of their own by Patirck Corbin in the bottom of the same inning. In the third, Washington took the lead with a homer to center field from Anthony Rendon, making it 2-1 in favor of the Nationals.
In the top of the 8th, Starling Marte hit a grounder that got by the infield and went out to left field. That scored two runs to give the Pirates a 3-2 lead in the top of the 8th. Washington would again respond in the bottom of the inning, as Rendon hit another homer, this time a solo shot to left field.
In the top of the 10th, Colin Moran, who was pinch hitting for Jung-Ho Kang, hit a three- run home run to right-center field.
Starting pitcher Trevor Williams got a no-decision, lasting 6 and a thirds innings, allowing two runs on four hits, striking out three and walking 3. Nick Burdi got the win and Felipe Vazquez got the save.
