PennDOT’s office of Public-Private Partnerships, better known as their P-3 announced that they are accepting unsolicited proposals for future transportation projects.
This would apply to PennDOT-owned projects and infrastructure. During this time, businesses in the public sector can submit proposals that offer different and innovative ways to deliver transportation projects for a variety of projects concerning roads, trails, bridges, railroads, airports and other projects. The proposals can also include more efficient ways to manage existing transportation-related services and programs. PennDOT also says that private businesses can submit applications for non-PennDOT-owned assets as well.
The state’s law for P3s says that PennDOT and other transportation authorities and commissions to partner with private businesses. The Public Private Transportation Partnership Board will take a look at the projects and decide which one is eligible. If PennDOT finds a project that would be more cost-effectively administered by a private company, the company will be allowed to submit a proposal and/or enter into a contact to take over part or the entire project.
