Drivers may see some more bikes on the roads in Indiana today as today is “Bike to School Day”.
Bike to School day is an initiative by the County Office of Planning and Development, teaming with the County Commissioners, Indiana School District, IRMC, IUP’s Institute for Rural Health and Safety, Indiana Borough and the County Sheriffs. This marks the 18th year that the Bike to School day events are being held.
Everything gets underway at 7:30 at the KCAC with registration and a light breakfast rally. Traditionally, safety checks are held to make sure bikes are road ready. The bikes will then hit the road at 8:10. Bikers will head up Pratt Drive through campus, and going to school or church street, depending on if the student is going to Eisenhower or Horace Mann.
The kids will be escorted by police and sheriffs deputies.
