The Pirates return to action tonight after the All-Star break, and they are taking the field against a team that suffered its third straight shutout loss yesterday and which has not scored a run in its last 34 innings. The Miami Marlins come into the game off an 8-0 loss to the Texas Rangers yesterday.
The Pirates played the Marlins in Miami July 12th though the 15th, splitting the series with the Pirates taking the first two games and the Marlins the final two. The Pirates have not announced any of their starting pitchers for the three-game series. The Marlins will go with lefty Braxton Garrett tonight. He is 1-3 with a 3.70 ERA and coming off a fine performance July 14th against the Pirates, when he threw six innings of shutout baseball, giving up two hits and two walks and striking out 11.
The airtime for the game on WCCS is 6:40, with the first pitch at 7:05.
