An industrial accident was reported this morning at the Homer City Generating Station.
Logan Dellafiora of the Coral-Graceton Fire Department reported that a 13,000 pound piece of machinery at the plant fell on a plant worker’s arm. Dellafiora said that the plant’s safety team had already started trying to move the machinery piece off the victim’s arm. Crews from Coral-Graceton, Homer City and Black Lick fire departments were also dispatched to provide extra assistance, and Dellafiora said that they used several different techniques to get the machinery off of the victim.

After the victim was freed, he was airlifted to the Conemaugh Regional Medical Center for further treatment. Dellafiora praised the work of the on-site emergency crew, comprised of plant volunteers, for their initial work on the situation.

The condition of the victim is not known at this time. We have reached out to officials at the Homer City Generating Station for a comment and have not heard back from them yet.
