The Penguins face a showdown game against the Carolina Hurricanes today. After Friday’s Penguins’ loss to the Predators and the ‘Canes win over the Flyers yesterday, Carolina is just two points behind Pittsburgh for the third spot in the Metro Division.
Evgeni Malkin returned to practice with the team for the first time since he was injured February 16th against the St. Louis Blues. Malkin wore a red “non-contact” jersey and said that ideally, he would like to return for “one or two” of the Penguins final four regular-season games.
Defensemen Kris Letang and Chad Ruhwedel continued skating on their own, with no word on their return from injury. Zach Aston=Reese continues to heal and the team has not announced a timetable for his return.
