Gas price averages continue to trickle down across the national, state and countywide levels.
Triple A reports that the national average cost of a gallon of gas this morning is $4.55 a gallon, marking a three cent drop from yesterday, a 15 cent drop since last week and a 45 cent drop since last month at this time. Like earlier this week, experts credit the drop in gas prices to the drop in crude oil prices, which dropped to $96.30 a barrel on Wednesday. Gas demand also dropped from 9.41 million barrels to 8.06 million barrels, while gas stocks increased to 5.8 million.
Pennsylvania’s average is now hovering around $4.70 a gallon, which is a decrease of two cents since yesterday, 10 cents over the past week and 37 cents since last month. One year ago, gas price averages were around $3.25 a gallon.
Indiana County is tied with Clearfield County with the lowest average gas price in the region at $4.69 a gallon. Jefferson County comes in next with an average of $4.71 a gallon, followed by Cambria County at $4.72 a gallon. Westmoreland and Clarion Counties carry averages of $4.77 a gallon, and Armstrong County has the highest average in the region at $4.79 a gallon.
Gasbuddy.com reports that the GetGo along Oakland Ave. holds the lowest gas price in the area, coming in at $4.45 as of this morning. Townsend Gas and Oil along Route 119 South reports a gas price of $4.49 this morning. Other prices in Indiana, Homer City, Clymer and Blairsville hold gas prices of $4.65 to $4.69 as of this morning.
