The Pirates move on to Colorado to play the Rockies in the final series before the All-Star break. Jose Quintana [2-4, 3.59 ERA] faces the Rockies’ German Marquez [5-7, 5.66 ERA] tonight. It’s an 8:15 airtime on WCCS, with first pitch at 8:40.)
The Pirates have lost pitcher Aaron Fletcher who was claimed yesterday by San Francisco after being designated for assignment last Friday. Pitcher Cam Vieaux was also designated for assignment and has cleared waivers. The Pirates assigned him outright to Indianapolis.
ALTOONA CURVE
Altoona right-fielder Fabricio Macias was 3-for-4 with three doubles and second baseman Aaron Shackelford was 3-for-4 with two doubles to lead the Curve to an 8-3 win over Richmond. Andres Alvarez and Blake Sabol each homered for Altoona and Cristofer Melendez made his Curve debut out of the bullpen and threw two shutout innings to get the win.
