The skyrocketing rate of young people vaping will be the topic at a public program at Homer Center High School on Wednesday evening.
“Vaping: What Every Parent Needs to Know” will be presented from 7 to 8:30 PM by the non-profit Breath Pennsylvania in partnership with Indiana County District Attorney Pat Dougherty. Homer Center Principal Jody Rainey says the workshop is open to any school staff member, parent, or student in ARIN Intermediate Unit 28 service area, plus the Ligonier Valley and Northern Cambria school districts.
Among the topics covered will be the terminology associated with e-cigarette use, how they work, what they look like, how they may be concealed, the signs of nicotine withdrawal, and how to help your child quit vaping.
The 2017 Pennsylvania Youth Survey found that nearly 30 percent of 12th graders had used e-cigarettes within the last month prior to taking the survey.
No pre-registration is required for the event on Wednesday.
