A portion of West Pike will be closed for the final full week of July as crews work on replacing a bridge and culvert in White Township.
PennDOT has announced that starting July 24th and going through the 31st, Philadelphia Street West Extension will be closed between Wolf Drive and Colonial Toyota to allow for the removal of the Claypool Heights Bridge, the replacement of the culvert and roadway reconstruction. The work will be performed by Plum Contracting of Greensburg at a cost of $632,000.
Detours will be posted during that time. Westbound traffic should plan to follow Ben Franklin Road south to the intersection with Route 286, then turn right onto 286 and head past Walmart to Route 422 at the Oakland Avenue interchange, then turn right onto 422 and follow it until the Philadelphia Street Exit.
Eastbound traffic should U.S. Route 422 to the State Route 286/Oakland Avenue interchange. At the end of the off ramp, turn left on to Route 286, proceed to the intersection with Ben Franklin Road and turn left.
