The Penguins moved into a second-place tie with the Islanders by defeating the Predators, 2-1, in a shootout yesterday in Nashville.
Sidney Crosby scored the lone goal in the shootout and Matt Murray stopped 28 shots, including all three Nashville shooters in the shootout.
The Capitals lead the division with 94 points, while the Islanders and Pens are tied for second place with 91 points. Carolina checks in with 87 and Columbus 84.
Pittsburgh plays at Dallas Saturday night.
