People driving around Indiana Borough are going to see some yard signs that are part of an IUP effort to help keep the peace over IUPatty’s day.
Two different yard sign types are being put out for display: one set are professionally made ones that came out last year, asking people to treat Indiana with respect over the weekend and calling 911 if someone sees a friend exhibiting signs of alcohol poisoning, and the others are messages being put together by various student groups. Ann Sesti of the Program Planning Committee said that they have seen an increase in the number of students making signs for the community, and that the signs have been noticed.

The student signs have several different messages on them, including “See Something, Say Something” and encouraging those who drink to plan a ride or have a designated driver.

Sesti said that the students making the signs could either follow the motto examples that are given to them, or create signs with their own preventative messages on them. One such sign includes a reminder to not assault or abuse police horses while they are in town.
