State troopers announced earlier today that they will be participating in a new initiative to get drivers to adhere to Pennsylvania’s “Move Over Law.”
This “Six-State Trooper Project” will have troopers adopting a “zero tolerance” policy when it comes to drivers who fail to adhere to the law that requires drivers to get out of the way when an emergency vehicle is approaching with its lights and sirens activated, or if a car is disabled on the side of the road, drivers should move over to another lane and decreases speed when approaching it.
Troopers say in a news release that this is an effort to reduce the number of crashes and to save lives. Troopers will also be watching for distracted, aggressive, and intoxicated drivers.
The effort is in collaboration with state police in Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and West Virginia.
