Gas prices continue their slow daily descent today across the United States, Pennsylvania and in Indiana County.
Triple A reports that the National Average is now down to $4.65 a gallon, which is down two cents from yesterday, 25 cents from last week and 36 cents from last month. Last year at this time, gas prices were $3.16 a gallon. This comes as demand continues to increase, likely due to the Independence Day travel period. Demand increased from 8.92 million barrels a day to 9.41 million barrels a day during that time. The main reason for the decrease is once again the cost of crude oil continuing to fall. Crude oil prices this morning are around $101 a barrel.
Pennsylvania’s average is $4.77 a gallon this morning, down a penny from yesterday, eleven cents from last week and 30 cents lower than last month. Last year, Pennsylvania’s average was $3.22 a gallon.
Indiana County’s average this morning is $4.78 a gallon. The counties that have the lowest average in our region is both Jefferson and Cambria at $4.76 a gallon each. Clearfield County is tied with Indiana at $4.78 a gallon. Westmoreland County has $4.84 a gallon average and Armstrong County has a $4.86 a gallon average.
Potter County has the highest average in the state at $4.88 a gallon. Carbon County has the lowest average at $4.60 a gallon.
The highest gas price in Indiana County, according to Gasbuddy.com is $4.79 a gallon at both the BP station in Shelocta and the VP racing fuels station in Blairsville. Other stations in Blairsville, Indiana, Homer City and Clymer each report a price of $4.75 a gallon this morning.
