Even without Bryan Reynolds, the Pirates had plenty of offense last night in their series opener in Miami, and they combined that with a stellar pitching performance from Mitch Keller.
Here’s Joe Block.
In the second game of the series tonight, the Bucs will start reliever Chris Stratton in a bullpen game. He’s 5-4 with a 5.46 ERA. The Marlins will go with lefty Daniel Castano, who is 1-2, with an ERA of 3.60. It’s a 6:15 airtime on WCCS.
The Pirates put star center fielder Bryan Reynolds on the 10-day injury list with a right oblique strain. Marisnick was activated from the injury list, returning from thumb surgery. To make room for him on the 40-man roster, the Pirates designated reliever Cam Vieaux for assignment.
ALTOONA
The Altoona Curve return home to open a six-game series against Richmond tonight. Right-hander Carmen Mlodzinski will get the start for the Curve. He’s 2-4 with a 4.12 ERA. He went 5 innings and gave up two runs the last time out last week against Akron.
