State Senator Joe Pittman’s bill concerning prescription eye drops has passed the Senate.
Senate Bill 1201 would require health insurance policies issued or renewed in Pennsylvania provide for prescription eye drop refills at 70% of the prescribed duration. This is meant to cover early refills for eye drop prescriptions when they run out early. In a news release, Pittman said that some of that medicine goes un-used due to spills or other factors, and when they go for the refill, coverage may be denied and they are unable to refill the prescriptions as needed.
The bill now heads to the State House for further consideration.
