One series ended but the other will need a deciding third game in the Indiana County Youth Legion semifinal playoff series.
Punxsutawney S&T Bank broke a scoreless tie with a four-run third inning and eliminated Marion Center, 6-2 to sweep the two-game series. Cole Martino walked seven batters for S&T but did not surrender a hit over four innings and struck out seven. He was relieved after four with his team up 4-1 and Donald Bender went the final three, giving up a run on a hit with two more walks and two strikeouts.
For S&T, Bender was 3-for-3 and Alexander Shumaker and Landan Temchulla each had two hits. Alex Stewart and Kayden Detwiler had Marion Center’s two hits, Detwiler’s a double. Detwiler took the loss for MC.
In the other semifinal, Brookville Fireman’s Club evened their series with SW Jack with a 9-6 win at Brookville. The game was tied at 4 after two innings but Brookville scored five runs in the third and then held off a two-run rally in the seventh to win the game.
Sam Krug had two doubles and drove in three for Brookville. Sergio Sotillo and Ladd Blake each had two hits. Pierson Ruhlman relieved Blake in the second and went the final five-and-two-thirds innings for the win.
For SW Jack, Landon Kodman had two hits and six different players drove in a run apiece. Jonathan Cribbs took the loss.
Game three will decide the series tonight at the White Township Recreation Complex at 6 o’clock.
