IUP TO HOST FULBRIGHT SCHOLARS FOR SEVENTH STRAIGHT YEAR

IUP has announced it has received funding for a program that brings international teachers to the university.

According to a news release, IUP will receive $300,000 to continue to host the Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program for International Teachers.  This marks the seventh year that IUP has been funded for the program.  IUP will be one of only two universities in the United States that will host selected primary and secondary teachers from around the world as they take courses for professional development, observe and share their experiences in the United States, and bring what they’ve learned here back to their home countries to pass along that wisdom.  As part of their visit to our area, the scholars will be guest teachers in the Indiana Area School District.

This fall, IUP will host 21 Fulbright Scholars from 14 different countries, including Botswana, Brazil, Finland, Greece, India, Indonesia, Israel, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, the Phillipines, Senegal, Singapore and Uganda.  The teachers will be in town August 8^th to December 9^th.
