The Bucs made a trade yesterday with the Yankees, acquiring left-handed relief pitcher Manny Banuelos for cash considerations. The 31-year-old was considered the Yanks’ top prospect in 2012 but underwent Tommy John surgery and has not reached that potential since. He’s pitched for the Braves and White Sox, as well as in China and Mexico in the last seven years, returning to the Yankees this season.
The Pirates’ roster may look different as well with the return of a number of veterans who are nearing completion of their rehab assignments. Kevin Newman, Yoshi Tsutsugo, and Ben Gamel are all close to returning and all had good weekends with the bats for Indianapolis.
