State lawmakers are home for the holiday weekend, but without an agreement on the new budget. Negotiations are scheduled to resume on Tuesday on a roughly $42 billion plan.
Both Senator Joe Pittman and Representative Jim Struzzi are members of their respective chambers’ appropriations committees, which are the two panels most directly involved in the talks. The new fiscal year started on Friday with no agreement on the constitutionally-mandated budget but lawmakers from both sides say they are very close to closing the deal and they anticipate no significant interruption of state services.
