A businessman, disc jockey, community volunteer and longtime White Township supervisor has passed away.
Jerry L. Boucher, better known to the community as “Jerry B”, passed away Friday. In the 1950’s, Boucher’s love for the music of that era would lead him to open up “Jerry B’s House of Wax” music store in the Downtown Indiana area, and he would be one of the region’s premiere disc jockeys as he hosted car cruises, sock hops and dances for over 60 years through his DJ business. He was also a DJ on WDAD, playing oldies music on “The Jerry B Show”, and he was also a DJ on WMUG.
On top of owning the music store, in the 60’s, Boucher would own Bikes Galore bicycle shop, manage the Ridge Lanes bowling alley, a property manager at Poet’s Village, and until his retirement, was a greeter at Creps United Publications.
He was also a devoted public servant, especially to his home area of White Township. Boucher was elected to four terms to the White Township Board of Supervisors, and served for 18 years. He was known during the meetings for being the one to make one of the final motions, which was to approve the payroll and bills, to which he would add “as long as there’s money in the bank.”
Boucher was also a volunteer for many different causes, but two that were close to his heart were the Family Fourth of July celebration’s return to Mack Park in Indiana, and serving as the chairman and captain of “Uncle Mike’s Friends”, a group dedicated to raising money for the National MS Society, in honor of his brother-in-law, who suffered from the disease.
