It’s on to the PSAC semi-finals for the IUP basketball teams after wins last night in the quarterfinals at the KCAC.
Two milestones were set in the women’s game, as Coach Tom McConnell picked up his 142nd win, the most for a women’s coach at IUP, while Brittany Robinson had a double -double, which included her 1,000th career point.
The Crimson Hawks topped Seton Hill, 67-53, with Carolyn Appleby leading the way with 28 points. In addition to Robinson’s 16 points and 12 rebounds, Lauren Wolosik added 12 points.
IUP, now 24-3, will take on Bloomsburg Saturday afternoon at 1p.m. at Kutztown University. IUP defeated Bloomsburg, 73-46, in November at the KCAC.
The men were 76-68 winners over UPJ to advance and play host to this weekend’s tournament at the KCAC. The Crimson Hawks were led by PSAC West Player of the Year Cobo Diaz with his 15th double-double, 19 poInts and 11 rebounds. Malik Miller had 17 points and Dante Lombardi scored 16 points and dished out five assists.
The Crimson hawks will play West Chester in the 3:30p.m. game, with East Stroudsburg and Mercyhurst meeting in the opener at 1 o’clock. The Hawks beat West Chester, 80-75, earlier this year.
