A family was displaced this morning after a fire burned their trailer in Burrell Township.
The initial call from Indiana County 911 went out at 3:29 this morning to Blacklick, Blairsville, Coral-Graceton and Homer City fire departments along with Citizen’s Ambulance and the county Hazmat team to the home at 393 Blaire Road in Burrell Township. Dan Shacreaw of the Blacklick Fire Department said that the fire started in the heater and spread from there. The fire was contained to two of the bedrooms and the back hallway, but because of the smoke and water damage sustained to the rest of the single-wide trailer, the structure will most likely be torn down.
Shacreaw said that the people that lived there, a mother and two children, were able to get out safely, along with all four of the cats they cared for. The name of the family is not being released at this time, but the Red Cross has been called in to assist the family.
