Jury selection is scheduled today for 36-year-old Shannon Kay Dixon of Creekside, who is facing charges for sexual assault involving two children. Her husband is scheduled for trail on the same charges starting March 18th.
The case came to light last year for incidents that occurred in 2014. Both Shannon Dixon and William Dixon II, who is now listed as living in Gipsy, are charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, sexual assault, and two counts of indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age. Judge Thomas Bianco has previously ruled that one of the two children involved in the case is not capable of testifying at the trial, but the other is.
The case was one of two against the Dixons, who in 2017 both pleaded guilty to charges related to locking their children in their bedrooms with a portable toilet, a few toys, and no lights. William Dixon pleaded guilty to three counts of endangering the welfare of children and his wife pleaded guilty to three counts of reckless endangerment.
Also in court today, Judge William Martin will conduct a motions hearing for 31-year-old Allen Karl Palmer of West Wheatfield Township, who is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, and harassment for a January 22nd incident at a home along Climax Road. Palmer is accused of firing several rounds from a BB gun at a 24-year-old woman, hitting her in the head, hand, and body. Judge Martin will consider a motion by defense attorney Robert Bell to hire a psychiatrist for his client.
Two defendants are scheduled for sentencing today in drug cases. Troy Deon Baker of Euclid, Ohio, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance and Bernard Sanford Samuel McCreary of Indiana pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia.
