EASTERN LEAGUE
In other news, the Somerset Patriots are headed to the Eastern League playoffs. No, this is not a joke. After Yankees top prospect Anthony Volpe walked off Sunday’s game against Hartford, the Patriots were crowned Eastern League Northeast Division Champions.
Meanwhile, in the Southwest Division, the Richmond Flying Squirrels were crowned first half champions after finishing the first half with a 40-29 record.
With their first half championships, both Somerset and Richmond automatically clinch postseason berths.
