The American Red Cross says it is need of help as blood supplies dwindle in the dry summer months.
The Red Cross says they have noted a decline in blood donations, which is not unusual in the summer, but this year, according to Karen Sistek, they are experiencing more appointment no-shows and lower overall number of donors scheduling.
Sistek says there are two remaining blood drives in Indiana County this month with a number of open appointment times: at the Indiana Eagles Club on Monday from 12:30 to 5:30 PM, and at the Indiana Elks Lodge next Wednesday from 12:30 to 6 PM.
You can call 1-800-RED-CROSS or visit redcrossblood.org to schedule an appointment. If you’d like to give at the Eagles, enter code “IE1468”. To give at the Elks, use code “IndianaElks” (one word).
Walk-in donations are also welcome.
