Indiana Borough residents will have access to a new high-speed emergency notification system with a new program called SwiftReach.
Borough Manager Brad Gotshall says in a news release that residents will notified of emergency situations such as severe storm warnings, road closures, water problems, evacuations, and more via telephone, cell phone, email, text, and social media.
Gotshall says the system uses publicly available phone numbers that can be removed or updated by the resident. If your published information needs updated, you’re encouraged to do that and you can also add unpublished numbers, additional phone numbers, and other contact preferences. Residents can register for the service via the Swift911 web portal, which is available at www.indianaboro.com/notify, or by downloading the Swift911 Public App on their smartphones.
Indiana Borough’s Public Works Department, police, and administration will use the system. Gotshall says the borough will continue to expand the program to include other notifications of various Borough alerts and services. The news release does not indicate the cost to the borough for implementing the service. SwiftReach is a nationwide service with more than 1,500 clients.
