State police have released reports on two accidents, one of which involved a hit-and-run driver.
No one was injured Monday morning in a collision on Oakland Avenue near Lilac Street in White Township. Police say it happened at 6:49 AM when an eastbound vehicle cut the turn short to get onto Lilac Street and struck a vehicle operated by James Smith of Indiana. Smith got out of his vehicle to exchange information but the other driver fled on Lilac Street. While Smith was in the westbound vehicle, it was struck from behind by a vehicle operated by Robyn Leary of Home. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
The hit-and-run vehicle may have been dark green. Police don’t say whether it was a car or another type of vehicle. It will have driver’s side front-end damage.
The second accident report today is for a two-vehicle collision January 29th on Willow Road in Armstrong Township. Police say 34-year-old Melissa Claycomb of Shelocta lost control of her minivan and skidded into the opposite lane, colliding with a tractor trailer operated by 62-year-old Gary Blystone of Shelocta. Claycomb and one of her passengers, a 13-year-old boy, were taken to Indiana Regional Medical Center for treatment of suspected minor injuries.
