An opera performer from Indiana County was honored yesterday by The Recording Academy with a Grammy Award.
Edward Parks, a graduate of Indiana High School, was honored as a performer for the album “The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs”, an opera that had its world premiere in 2017 at the Santa Fe Opera. Parks played the role of Steve Jobs in this production, which focuses on several points of Jobs’ life that go back to his time working with Steve Wozniak in the 1970’s to his death in 2011.
Parks was a 2002 graduate of Indiana Area Senior High School and during his time there, he was involved in several vocal music groups, including Men’s Chorus, A Capella Choir and Madrigal Singers. He was also involved in the music theater program, with his most remembered role being that of Teyve in the 2001 production of Fiddler on the Roof. Scott Salser, the vocal music teacher at Indiana High School, said Ed was always focused on the groups he was in, and helping them get better.

Edward started earning worldwide fame in 2015 when he placed third in the Operalia, a world opera competition put on by Placido Domingo. Since then, he has played several of Opera’s most famous roles for opera companies across the United States.
