In Indiana County Court today, sentencing is scheduled for three defendants, including an Allegheny County man already serving time in prison there.
In October, an Indiana County Court Jury found 47-year-old George Andrew Dorsey of Pittsburgh guilty of statutory sexual assault of a child age eleven or older, endangering the welfare of a child, and corruption of minors. All three offenses are felonies. He was acquitted on charges of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, and aggravated indecent assault of a child.
Judge Thomas Bianco ordered Dorsey to be evaluated by the Sexual offenders Assessment Board as part of Pennsylvania’s Megan’s Law. He was sentenced in October in Pittsburgh to 10 to 23 months in jail for recklessly endangering another person, with an Allegheny County jury finding him not guilty of six more serious offenses, including rape, indecent assault forcible compulsion, terroristic threats, and two counts of aggravated assault.
Also in Indiana County Court today, 26-year-old Andrew Barto of Mahaffey will be sentenced for a guilty plea to indecent assault of an unconscious person, with non-prosecution for a second count of the same offense. The crime occurred in March of last year in Indiana Borough.
39-year-old Matthew Mazziotti of Pittsburgh will be sentenced for a guilty plea to receiving stolen property. He was involved in a burglary of a home on North Ben Franklin Road in White Township in September of 2016. He stole more than $4,000 worth of jewelry, drove to Pittsburgh and sold it to a gold dealer, then went gambling at The Rivers Casino. Police tracked his cellphone and when they had enough evidence to file charges against him, he avoided arrest until he was caught in a DUI enforcement detail in State College. Police there ran his name through the crime computer database and turned up the arrest warrant. Felony burglary, two misdemeanors, and two summary offenses will not be prosecuted.
