The Steelers made All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick the highest paid safety in the NFL, after league insider Adam Schefter reported that both sides agreed to a four-year contract extension earlier today.
The deal is reported to be worth more than $18.4 million per year with $36 million guaranteed at signing. Prior to Fitzpatrick’s deal, the highest paid safety was Seattle’s Jamal Adams, who averaged $17.5 million per year.
The 25-year-old safety played in 30 games with the Steelers since they acquired him from Miami in 2020. Last season, he made 84 solo tackles and completed two interceptions.
The team officially announced the deal at 12:22 p.m. this afternoon.
