Downtown Indiana, Inc. held a meeting last night to answer questions from property and business owners about the new proposed Business Improvement District.
The new plan, called the Indiana Downtown Improvement Area, or IDIA has changed the footprint of the area from 12th street to Third Street and between Nixon and Gompers Avenues. David Janusek of Downtown Indiana said they wanted to change the footprint to include some new areas on Philadelphia Street as they felt that the business district has expanded past the original bid borders.
Other changes include improved snow removal and promotion programs, and a new Stakeholders Advisory Council, and a BID fee appeals committee if a stakeholder feels they are not getting the appropriate service from the district.
The next step will be to take some of the information gathered from the meeting tonight, and apply it to this first draft of the plan. Janusek said if all goes well, the IDIA would be up for approval in August.
