The countdown to the 2022-23 hunting season is on across Pennsylvania and the state Game Commission recently announced information regarding one of the more popular times of the hunting season.
The Game Commission advises area hunters that licenses for the hunting and trapping seasons will go on sale starting on Monday, June 13, and it adds that buying one is “key to getting in on some exciting action.”
The new license year begins July 1 and a it features a record number of bull elk tags, as well as seven weeks of archery deer hunting. Other notable features include the chance to hunt trophy black bears, more stocked areas with pheasants and a firearms deer season that runs the weekend after Thanksgiving.
The Game Commission also introduced a discounted hunting license available to Hunter-Trapper Education instructors, which was made possible through House Bill 1122 that was signed into law earlier this year.
Aside from the exception to the Hunter-Trapper Education instructor rate, license pricing remains the same as last year. More information, including a full list of licensing requirements can be found on the Game Commission’s website, pgc.pa.gov.
