In Jefferson County, state police this weekend investigated two accidental shootings.
On Saturday afternoon, police and rescue personnel were summoned to a home on East market Street in Timblin Borough, where a 14-year-old Amish boy had been shot in the head. The victim’s 13-year-old brother had been handling a .22-caliber revolver when it fired. The boy was flown by medical helicopter to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh and was listed in stable condition.
Yesterday afternoon, police were dispatched to a home on Cloe Church Street in Bell Township, where a 39-year-old man had been shot in the hand and abdomen. The victim, who is not publicly identified, had just finished loading the weapon when he dropped it and tried to catch it, causing the gun to go off. He was taken to Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
