At their meeting on Tuesday night, Indiana Borough Council gave a few updates regarding the allocation of American Recovery Plan funds as well as some borough codes.
Council approved several motions that would go towards purchasing new parking meters and security cameras, as well as other parking-related items. The board approved the purchase of 76 parking meters at a cost of $29,637; six handheld N5 citation devices at a cost of $32,606; and a new borough parking cruiser at a cost of $15,695. In addition, $5,205 will be put towards updating security cameras in the parking garage.
Borough Manager Nicole Sipos said that it was time to update the equipment.
Sipos adds that Public Safety would like to see ARP funding be put towards Citizens’ Ambulance and Indiana Fire Association.
In other business, solicitor Pat Dougherty gave an update on the pending lawsuit between Heartland Food Group and Indiana Borough that relates to the proposed Dunkin Donuts along Philadelphia St.
He said the next step is a status conference in Indiana County’s Court of Common Pleas.
Borough Council also wanted to remind residents that updates were done to the borough code’s Q&A page on its website. General code overviews and specific questions were addressed. Council also praised the efforts of Indiana Borough Police for their work in investigating the racist threat at Indiana Senior High School.
