The IUP women suffered their first defeat of the season last night with a 61-56 loss to California University at the KCAC.
IUP trailed at the half for the first time since December 7th, 2017 at Bowie State. Down by three with under 20 seconds to play, IUP was whistled for an offensive foul as Cal split a pair at the foul line. Ana Hollen then drained a three-pointer to bring the Crimson Hawks to within one point, 57-56, with 14 seconds left . Cal connected on two more free throws. IUP then missed a three-pointer and the Vulcans added two more free throws for insurance and the win.
IUP committed 21 turnovers. Brittany Robinson tallied 16 points and Hollen added a season-high 11 points off the bench.
Cobe Diaz and Dante Lombardi celebrated milestones in game two with an 81-56 win to run their record to 17 and 1. Cobo became the 11th player in program history with 1,500 points and tied Joe Delise for 10th place with 1,510 points. He is also the second active Division II player with at least 1,500 points and 900 rebounds in a career.
Diaz tallied 18 points and 15 rebounds. Lombardi finished with 11 points and 10 assists. Dante now has 502 assists, second only to Devante Chance’s 512 . He is now one of only seven active players in Division II with at least 500 assists. Malik Miller scored 18 points and Marko Krivacevich 12 off the bench.
Both teams play at Clarion Saturday afternoon.
